Yea it is really too bad that these cars get so beat.  I know where I 
live every kid in high school wants a vw becuse they are quick and 
they think that no matter what you do to them they never break.  I've 
looked at a lot of thrashed 16v's (I think I'd looked at 15 last 
count).  I disagree with john though.  I think 8v's tend to get 
abused less.
