Now that you mention it, I think it was a Jetta I front clip.

The whole conversion doesn't look that complicated.  If you drilled out 
all the spow welds on the PU's floors, and where the roof meets the back 
wall, you could cut the sills and weld the new car up. The strikers from 
the PU would still be used...  Maybe a 1.5" square tube 'rail' welded 
under the truck to be safe- like a bug 'vert... 

My friend just restored a PU at work. They put an entire floor section 
in it, new wheel wells, and a round headlight conversion! Lots of work!
