I saw a Scirocc-up at the Litchfield, CT show this past summer. There 
was a swapper there with a grey 8v that had a tree fall on the hatch. 
Instead of junking it, he removed the back side windows and used them as 
the begining of the 'bed' for a pick-up. He cut across the roof to the 
horizontal attachment for the windows, then cut across the bottom- till 
he reached the back.  I think I remember seeing snaps all the way around 
the removed area- which would mean that there was some sort of Tonneau 
cover for it. 

If my GF ever buys a newer car, Im gonna make her foxwagen a 
Pickup/flatbed/Kart Hauler.
