FW: Lights

Andre sent alot of info on lighting to me and the list, but I think he forgot to cc: the list. If I'm wrong, oh well.. if not...this goes out to Chris, Bryan, and a few others working on the same project as me. BTW thanks to all

If you buy H4s it will look stock. They are a factory replacement for
the stock sealed beams but the low and high beam is sooooo much better
than the crappy US stock lighting. Trust me, I know =) Get yerself
a set of H4 4x6 rectangular lights, you will be glad you did. If you are
on the west coast try Potterman, if you are closer to the east coast try
Mark at Adirondack. I got mysetup from the Potterman and it ran be around
90 bucks, including shipping and the exchange from the 55/60 standard to
80/100. If you get the 80/100 you will most certainly need to do relays
or else you might toast your switch.

> What kind of relays do I need?

I went out and got some 3 dollar cheap all purpose off-road relays.
They are 5 prong, but I only needed 4. The relays you should look for
should be at least 20 amps, preferably 30, and have these numbers for
terminals, 30 for power from the battery, 85 for ground, 86 for the
trigger wire, and 87a to the light. My relays had an 87 but I am guessing
they are active when the trigger wire (86) is low. 86 is where you take
your old headlight wire and put it on that terminal, so when you turn on
your headlights, the relays senses the voltage on teh trigger and then
switches power to come straight from the battery and out of terminal 87a
to your headlight. The relays I bought had a small tab on the top with
a hole in it so I could drill a hole on the side of my fender under the
hood and mount it with 1 screw. Most auto parts places should have
relays. Check in the wiring sections, or ask if they have anything over
the counter. HTH..
