Overheating Problem

few hours and the temp stays normal. The fan seems to be working and 
everything else seems ok. As soon as I push the car hard and then slow 
down a short while later I watch the needle climb to almost overheat. 
The only way to bring it down is to let it cool and then drive again. 
Can anyone help?
