Cheapo Shocks

Hey-

Its not really Scirocco related, but the FOX is a little like an A1...
Anyway, we just got new (to us) wheels and tires for the Foxwagen, and  
I wanna get some cheapo shocks for it. I'd go with the BOGE, but even 
they are too good. She drives it to and from work, very slowly and 
carefully. People crash into her anyway!
Which of the cheapo shocks are better than the others? Gabriel? Monroe? 
Any Suggestions?

Also, are the rear drums on a Foxwagen the same as an A1? Hers are worn 
out.
