Greg,
I don't really know the answers to your questions but I do have something to
share with you regarding United Import Motors. I lived in Buffalo for 6
years.....and as you know, they are just about the only thing going there for
parts and service besides European Performance...which is way overpriced.
Anywho, I have a two part suggestion.
1. Only use them for PARTS that you need immediately. Their prices are OK
but I'd bet you can do better anyday with AAB or the Potterman. Also, they
sell a lot of BeckArnley parts that I don't necessarily like.
2. Their service people are nice guys.....but not really that good. They
screwed up my powersteering pump(which coincidentally is going bad again),
forgot to put my downpipe gasket back in once, misdiagnosed my obvious
differential seal leak as something else, and argued with me once for a half
hour that my 8716V had a Hydraulic Motor mount. They can get the job done but
it WILL cost you more money in the end.....that's a promise. If you do use
them I would suggest going to the downtown location. Tell them to keep the
car inside overnight cause it'll get raped.....and that's another promise.
Overall, they are the reason that NOONE other than me will ever touch any part
of my car again except machinists and alignment guys.
So, your name is real familiar........Check out my webpage and see if you
remember my car Greg!!!!!....and what does yours look like? I have only been
gone for a year but can promise that I know just about every scirocco in the
area. Later!!!
