European Car is doing a "Project 16v" article right now, which uses an 87,
if I am not mistaken. Go to the library, look in the periodicals section -
most libraries I know stock about 10 years worth of magazines, and most I
have been to have C&D/R&T - you could find some reviews of the cars in
those, and it is always interesting reading to me, see what these magazines
have to say about the car when it was new.

I am using the Momo aluminium pedal covers. They screw on, two holes must
be drilled per pedal, but it is easy. Complaints I have with them are
pretty minor - one, they have a fairly deep curve to them, and do not match
the stock pedals well(but not bad, either), and two, they are hard to place
well - in my car, a GTI, it took me two tries to get the clutch cover to
work right, so it would not hit the floor, limiting pedal travel. Minor,
really. They are relatively cheap - $30 or so, in all honesty, are a
crappy sand cast, looks like some Italian kid's shop project, but they
work. If I were to do it again, I'd make some out of 1/4" aluminium and a
drill press. I don't like the clip on kind at all - some(Razo and others)
use big bands which wrap around the pedal itself to hold the cover on -
this type makes me nervous. I know many who use them, but I prefer nuts
and bolts. IMHO. Plus, the Razo types are spendy($65+) in comparison. My
gas pedal is close enough to the brake that you have to make a decided
effort to step on the _brake_ if that's all you want. I am used to it, but
people often wind up stepping on the brake and gas at the same time in my
car. Best of luck!
