Tech: Seat release lever - released its last.

Ok so I thought no big deal the folks can just get in on the passenger
side anyway. That was last year. And I figured ya, I'll fix that
when I find the time its nothing important anyway. Beside how often
do you need to seat release thing anyway?

So yesterday morning the passenger side seat release went "snirt" or
pretty close. And that was it. My passengers were trapped in the
back of the car. I thought about leaving them there. But just as I
was locking the door and walking away I had a change of heart. After
much mucking with the seat slider and adjustment thingy for the tilt I
got them out.

So the question is: How the heck do I get inside the seat to fix that
release lever? I'm not against cutting the back off the seat if it
means I don't have to pull the seat out. But how hard can it be to
pull out a seat... (only 1 coat of paint, under coating, and some rust
and mud on the bottom of the car... can't really see the bolts
anymore...)

Help!

PS: Any comments about replacing the seats? Is it expensive? Hard
to do? Any tricks I need to know?
