Kinda... you have to have insurance on your car at ALL times, regardless
of when you bought it, who you are, etc. However, if you already have an
insurance policy (i.e. on another car), they are required to cover "new
acquisitions" for 30 days.. This means that you have 30 days to tell the
insurance company that you just bought a new car and give them the VIN and
stuff...

I know you're pissed at the cop, and I agree with most of what you've said
about cops needing to fight REAL crime... but I've been on this list long
enough to know that you prolly just started a HUGE war. For the record, I
agree with you on most of your points, but I will keep my mouth shut about
the cop topic from now on. ;)

And about the $105 / month. Feel honored-- I paid $280 a month when I
lived in Florida-- and that's no tickets or accidents, and with a $480 /
6month Good Student Discount. Sure, I was 18 and had a new car, but it was
a *Corolla*. So, while I can empathize with you, $105 isn't all bad...
unless of course you just have liability.
I now pay about $80 a month for coverage on my Rocco... and I still have
the Good Student Discount, and I have a no-accident discount. *But*, I
have 100/300 coverage with 50k property damage, 10k medical payments,
Uninsured motorist 100/300, underinsured motorist 100/300, loss of wages,
funeral benefits 2,500, rental reimbursement, death indemnity, *roadside
assistance*, a $250 deductible Collision, and (get this) ZERO deductible
comprehensive.
That's right, zero. Nada. Null. Naught. Zip. So, come on over to my house
and key uncle Jason's car. :) All it means to me is a new paint job and
having to put up with a rental shitbox for a couple weeks.
According to my insurance company, if I wanted the basic insurance
required by law, (15/30/5 with 5k medical) it would be $142.30 every 6 mos,
or $24 a month.
...aaah, the pleasure of being 23 years old. :)

Don't fret it, Geordy. You're right about the wasted talent of police
officers who look for people to harrass... As one of my friends who
recently moved back to the states after a 7-year stint in Germany said,
"These fucking cops are worse than Nazis".

	I agree. Drive Safe, kids.

(oh, and READ MY EMAIL ABOUT MY LEAKY FUEL TANK!) :) Thanx!
