Re: New Fuel Relay but no pump action (The woes continue...)



The fuel pump relay is supposed to let the pump run for a few seconds after
you switch on the ignition.  After that it will only run if it gets a
regular pulse from the coil trigger circuit, i.e. only if the engine is
turning.  The relay has a timer circuit which will break the supply to the
relay solenoid if it is not reset by the pulses from the coil trigger
circuit.
I have had a problem with the relay not working for a while now: I got round
it by taking the cover off the relay and soldering a bypass for the timer
circuit so that the relay solenoid gets an ignition switched feed.  It means
that the pump is running as soon as you turn the key, with no need for other
switches.
If you want to do that, I can check mine and tell you what you need to do.
