Re: A New Canuck Scirocco Owner...

Welcome Sead:

The reason you are bottoming out is most likely because someone cut a coil
or so off of your srprings to lower the vehicle. To correct it, obviously
you will need new springs. I highly recommend H&R springs.

FYI, *all* Sciroccos are Karmann made. I think that is the plant where they
were built. I could be wrong, but I am sure someone else may comment on it.

In regards to removing your cat and muffler, I would say it is a cheap way
to gain a few HP, maybe 3 max. IMO, not worth it. The car gets pretty loud
and you will most likely kill your O2 sensor because the cat is not
providing the necessary backpressure for it to operate correctly. Makes for
a rough idle. Not for street applications.

The best mod you can do to the engine is adding a dual outlet exhaust
manifold and a nice techtonics or similar exhaust. An engine is like an air
pump, so it helps to let it breathe better. Then you can add a cam, new
"euro" distributor, and swiss cheese the airbox. Who knows, maybe some mild
port and polishing would be in the plans as well. Suspension has to be
first IMO though. Get that thing stable first, then give it some power.

Good luck,
Paul Hanley
