Hey!

Not sure what a control pressure regulator is....but here's my cold start
story for my '87 16v (dunno if you have an 8v or what):

Basically, the car wouldn't start when it was cold out (duh). So I had Mr.
Mechanic check all kinds of crap, and ended up telling me I needed to have my
rings and seals re-done for 4K or so because a leakdown test showed small
percentages of leaking and wasn't "right"...Not!

I brought the car to my bud who I bought it from (he works on german cars and
tunes VW's). We spent a frigid mornign trying to figure out why the cold start
valve wasn't activating. The switch (I think its the thermo time switch) that
makes the decision whether its cold enough to activate the CSV was, indeed,
switching, but nothing was getting to the CSV. So we manually activated the
CSV....and got gas to spray as normal. So we checked the lead coming to the
CSV, and discovered it was bad: not sending power. We replaced the lead, and
it started right up.

As Meze would say....HTH!
