Yes, you are referring to your fuel pressure accumulator.  Recently, I have 
heard of alot of these starting to leak (most are 10-15yrs old now).  Here in 
Ohio the rust up pretty good.  Is it leaking from one of the line in/out?  You 
mentioned a kink in one of the lines?  Perhaps it is holding too much pressure.

Replace the lines and go with a brand new one.  I just bought one for my Jetta, 
genuine German only $30.00.

I just assumed that it was a filter....but why would 2 go bad on me?...hmm 
I'll try and figure out what it is....oh bently....here boy...
