Re: Engine Revving during gear shift....

Lets start on the simple side. A similar instance happened to me on
an old Rabbit, and it turned out to be a sticking trottle spring (you
know the area on top of the throttle body the accelerator cable pulls,
or you turn my hand when under the hood to rev the engine). Lubricate
the hell out of it with a liquid wrench/wd40 and work it in my hand.

If this is not the case, there may be some idle stabalizing valve
giving you grief or vacuum probelem.

  '82 VW Scirocco, 5 spd, 1.7L engine....

my engine has begun to revve up when I depress the clutch to either
downshift or upshift.....
after I return to first gear and the car returns to normal idle (sometimes)
then the engine will not revve up for a while when I depress the clutch to
shift gears - until I drive for a while or come to another stop......
then it'll start doing the revving thing again.....
   any ideas would be appreciated.....
thanks....
