You've been up to Vancouver, right?  I've ran 16s with 45 series tires up
here for a year and a half now and haven't bent anything.  I don't think
our streets are that bad, though.  There really aren't many potholes around
with dropoffs of more than 1".  Just in case I like to keep the front tires
up around 35-40psi, and the front Konis dialed down to under 1/2 turn.  You
need a good eye and good brakes too, of course, and a little luck to boot.
