Come to speak of it there is coolant on the inside of the hood and it
appears to originating from the expansion tank. But the cap has no residue
around it only the sending unit. I sthis what you are refering to?

 
I also remember some talk of the cap letting out coolant in the vapor
phase or something like that...anyone...
