The 300 D series are great cars, my pop has a 300CD. Don't forget that you
are dealing with economies of scale. I'd venture to say that there are more
300 series MB's on the road than Sciroccos. Also, not everything is cheaper
to fix in the MB. Look into how much a power window actuator costs, it's
frightning. As for the brake job, I believe that that MB has drums all
around, which should be a more difficult brake job than the scirocco's discs
(in the front, at least.) I'd figure that you got ripped on that job. It
should have cost about $80 at a shop, or $20 to DIY with good pads in about
an hour.
