FWIW, my exgirlfriend had a GTI 2.0 16v, and it most assuredly did NOT run
into a wall at 6k - it'd run into the revlimiter pretty easily. It was
stock. Very stock. Very fast. I'd not say there is something wrong with
the original posters car knowing what I do, but the 2.0 does not run into a
wall at 6k - Darrel? What'd your 16v do? Maybe a clogged cat? Dunno, but
I've never driven a 16v, 1.8 or 2, that ran into a wall at 6k. FWIW.
