Im told that the stock flex downpipe is good as long as you dont back
into anything.  The flex coupling will not withstand any considerable
amount of force.  apparently snowbanks in the winter kill a lot of these
pipes around here.  other than that they are pretty damn solid.  even wit
a pathetically blown front motor mount My friends held up fine.  Im
pretty sure he finally replaced it.  Keep in mind that the
manifold/downpipe/cat combo holds up against headers on a dyno and is
definitely more durable then them.

Never heard of oil killing a cat, a really rich/lean mixture will melt
them but I dont think oil has a signifigant impact.
