I have mentioned this earlier, but probably never copied to the group...

Some US cars have an 'impact switch', usually mounted in the trunk. When 
the car gets hit, this thing trips and kills the fuel pump. Needs to be
manually reset by pushing a button. On an '85 Ford I stripped, the switch
was in the right side supports near the back of the rear seat. One of these
gadgets wired into the fuel pump circuit should give you the peace of mind
knowing if you get hit, the fuel flow will stop..
