Out of lurking mode for a change....

If you have you windows tinted, be sure to have the rear quarter windows
(you know, the ones by the back seat) removed and tinted. They are easy
to take out and well worth the time. As a general rule there will be a
small gap around the tint to allow water to escape from under the tint.
IMHO this looks like crap. Newer cars that have that black strip on the
glass don't have this problem. If you really want it done right go one
step further and remove the small glass in the door and tint them, thus
eliminating that annoying little gap again.

I talked to a local shop and offered to bring the glass in to them, and
the guy said no, its best to do it in the car. When I got my car back
and it had the gaps around the tint, I was pissed. I argued with the
owner and finally got him to give me my money back, after his offer that
if I brought the glass in he'd tint it out of the car.... I stripped their
tint in the parking lot...Fools!

I eventually bought a roll of high quality 15% tint (100' x 20").
That was enough for me to tint two Scirocco's and a Corrado, and
have tint left over. I did a great job on both Scirocco's (pulling the
glass of course) and a incredible job on the Corrado ( I suprised
myself!). The other Scirocco's owner was told that the tint job with
pulling the glass is around a $200 job. (no I didn't charger her near that
much, she a close friend)

Remember before you tint to consider local laws. Illegal tint is an
equipment violation in most (all?) places with a monetary fine. Oh yeah,
the fine in Cincinnati, Ohio is $66. That's not the cheepest way to find
out the true percent tint you have. Mine was 9% on the nice officers
meter. But the car looks so nice all blacked out officer! And I can see
out, you just can't see in!

Well, back to lurking mode....
