There's a problem with filling it through the side... on cars up to late 
87 I believe, you were supposed to fill up to this hole, then add another 
half quart through the speedo cable hole. 

Removing the cable is not that bad, spray some degreaser down on it, hose 
the gunk off. A long extension w/ 11mm socket will undo the bolt. then 
pull the cable out. Jack the car up, reach up underneather the tranny to 
put the bolt back, somtimes it takes a minute or two to catch, but it's 
the only way...
