Re: exhaust

Which is probably a good thing because I've heard nothing but bad things
about Leistritz exhausts. The mufflers look decent in terms of power (you
can look in one and and out the other) but the tubing's only 2" diameter,
may or may not be mandrel bent, and I'm pretty sure it's not stainless.

Best bang for the buck with our 16v's is NOT replacing the whole exhaust.
They come from the factory with 2.25" stainless mandrel bent tubing! How
could you possibly do better than that? However, the center and rear
mufflers don't stand up so well, and are probably not the freest flowing
around, so you'd do better to drop that 150 or 200 bucks into a high
quality rear muffler like a Scorpion (wicked DTM tips, check out EXC's
website), Gillet, Supersprint, Remus, Sebring, etc. You could save cash
and buy a stainless Ultra-Flo (this is what Techtonics uses), but IMO these
things sound cheap. They don't 'muffle' very well and won't last too long
either. I've heard one on a 2.0 16v and I didn't like the sound at all -
too loud and snarly. Another friend of mine has one on his A3 GTi (as part
of an Autotech stainless system) and after less than 6 months one of the
hangers broke off and it was showing noticable rust around the welds. It
didn't sound very good either.

Hey Josh, I'm still waiting for details on that muffler conversion...:)
