When you say ball of my foot, do mean the end of the foot (with the toes) or
the heel?  Whe I heel and toe I just put my heel on the brake and tap the
gas with my toes and I've gotten my rev-matching down pat on my 8v.  It's a
bit different on my 16v and as I haven't driven it for 5 months I may have
forgot where the revs go.  Anyway I heel and toe almost around every turn
and coming to most stops but my clutch is slipping pretty badly now so
coming to stops nowadays consists mostly of brake power.   I think it adds a
lot of to driving and it allows a lot more control around turns so you can
downshift without annoying lurch of the engine coming up so speed with the
clutch/trans.  Then when you come out of the turn smoothly your car is ready
to pull like mad!  I encourage everyone to drive like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
