About the weight loss, if you use the stock hardware (hinges, insulation,
latch), weight loss will be minimal.  The best way to go is to make your
hood a pin-on/lift-off hood.  Then you will lose a significant amount of
weight.  Plus, it's tons easier to work on your car.
