suspension problems?

Group,

I have recently procured another Scirocco, this time a 87 16V red. The
car belonged to a convicted felon and had been locked up in a garage for
approx. 4 years. When I looked at it the car had 1/2-1" of pigeon feces
on it, all four tires were dry rotted and most of the other fluid were
generally gross. I had no idea what was wrong with the car other than
the obvious. I offered the guys brother $600 for it, I thought that was
a fair price considering its appearance. He accepted and I got a flat
bead to take it home for me. I got it home, bought 4 new tires, washed
the exterior 6X, replaced the battery all of the belts and hoses,
drained the gas out and replaced it with 1/2 fuel injector cleaner and
1/2 94 octane fuel and it turned over and ran great.

The only problem that I have been having is that the suspension seems
messed up.  The struts and bushings are completely shot in the front;
however, the backs seem good, but to get the car to go forward the
steering wheel is at a 90 degree angle to its normal position. I have
also heard some rumblings up front every time I go over a slight bump. I
was wondering if you all think that it is just the struts or alignment
problems or are there other more serious problems with the front end.

Thanks and happy scirrocoing,

Terry
