hi,

the alternator being dead sounds as a damn good answer. I know it is, gives
something like 12.2 V with all thel lights etc on. I just hadn't noticed
the buzz before and therefore thought it was a separate malfunction.

Shitty buziness, but it's better to change the right thing than to start
messing with I don't know what.
