82 Scirocco

Scirocco II was the new body style
Scirocco I - 75-81  Scirocco II - 82-88

Sorry to touch a nerve but the 82 was the least desired 
Scirocco. Below are some of my reasons. Well I guess a 75 or 76 (ex. 
76 Super Scirocco) would be a bad choice also.

The 82 was the first year of the new body style and it 
still had only a 1.7 liter engine and a long ratio gearbox as well as
non-vented front brakes and no swaybars. Also I believe it had
major problems with blue dashboards but that may have extended a
few years after the 82's. They also had the 2 piece rear parcel
shelf that broke often at the hinges but I don't think they
change to the 1 piece unit till 84 or 85 ??  Now none of these
things are that big of a deal as we all modify them anyways but
the 82 was the least desired from the stock equipment viewpoint.
In California I believe most of the 83's and up were equipped with 
all the same stuff as the GTI. Now my memory may not be perfect on
that one so correct me if I am wrong. They are all still great VW's 
and best of all a Scirocco.
