Timing questions

OK, I have to set the timing on my JH which has none of the V belt
pully on it and no timing belt. So I look in the bently and this is
what it tells me...
The cam sprocket timing mark gets lined up with the side of the
head(with the valve cover on it. Then the bently says that there
Should be a V notch on the pully thats on the crankshaft sprocket and
with this "V" you put the timing mark thats on the intermedait (-sp)
shaft right in the crotch of the V slap on the belt tighten it up all
is well.
But! This is what it looks like on my JH. The cam sprocket has a
timing mark on both sides of it. One on the outside and one on the
inside. In totolly different places. So which one should I use to
line up to the head?
Second is the crankshaft...
First off, my crankshaft does not have the "v"belt pully on it. But
the crankshaft sprocket has a nub on it. So it would make sense
that if this nub is pionting stait up it would be dead center. Am I
right?
Third the V belt pully I have has no V on it. So how do I line up my
intermediat shaft? The intermediat shaft does have the timing mark
but I don't know what to line it up to?
                   Any ideas?
