Request for comments - list change

Please Think about this.
I have had three VW h2o's and I loved them all. (Polo GT, Golf A2 GTI 16v
and Scirocco 16v US-Norm) The Scirocco A1 chassis list is nice because it
draws from a small group and the amount Email from it is about all I can
handle in one day. The Scirocco is different from the non Karmann built
cars because a) all cars were built in Germany and 2) the low volume of
cars produced. This makes finding parts a challenge and fun. Sometimes
shopping I expect the sales guy to say, "We had a Scirocco part about a
year ago but you bought it." VW&P ( 911 & $500 BTS Rabbits) and EC ( BMW
M3ís and lesser sedans from Europe) have fewer articles on the Sciroccos
but hundreds on the GTi and Jetta. I would love tech input from the owners
of the more common cars, Rabbit GTi's and Jetta, but I have been getting
it for ten years from everywhere. The focus is what make this list so
cool.
My solution is to start an A1 GTi and Jetta Performance list separate from
the Scirocco list. We can subscribe to both and go back to our Scirocco
only list if we get 500 E-mails a day on how to put round lights on a
Mexico built Rabbit.? or will a ë86 Caborlet dash fit on a "79 Jetta? If
Performance is the main topic we can use the information. The A2 is close
but different enough to be a third list IMHO. This way we can have our cake
and eat it too.

>Greetings -

I'm strongly considering changing the name of the list from the Scirocco
mailing list to.... the A1 Volkswagen list. Reasons being:

1) There are already several GTI-only owners on the list, and they have
been helpful and not caused any problems so far (that is *not* a challenge,
Mannix). I think it would be to the list's benefit to draw more heavily
from that particular pool of VW owners.

2) In my opinion, all A1-chassis VWs are pretty cool; I just happen to like
the looks of the Scirocco better. GTIs are definitely worthwhile - they
are, after all, the first pocket-rocket. The cars really have pretty much
the same internals, so why differentiate?

Comments? Concerns? Any really nasty flames about this should probably
go to me directly to avoid all out war on the list. Keep in mind that this
(the list) is not a democracy; I am not taking a vote - if you want to
convince me not to do it, use rational, well-thought-out arguments rather
than just "hell no!"<
