I'm assuming you adjusted the clutch cable properly? 

There's a comon, but little known about problem. It's the small piece 
that presses against the t/o bearing I believe. it's cast, and it can 
crack off the shaft, rendering the clutch useless. R&R is not to dificult 
from what I've been told, replace the t/o bearing while you're in there 
checking.
