One way to aviod this is to attach some dryer hose or the like to the
hole you've made in your air box and route it so it pulls cool air from
behind the bumper or elsewhere.

One downside to making more holes - too much total hole area can
begin to hurt throttle response on the low end. It's hard to know
how far to go until you've gone too far....
