Headlight 'sqirters'

My Euro 89 has these things mounted on the bumper that sent out high pressure spray to the headlights when you pull back the windshield washer lever.  I don't remember any US ones having this...probably because it's a pretty dumb idea!  :-)  Has anyone seen this on a US Spec Scirocco?
