'85 Scirocco Wolfsburg GTI??????

Greetings,
	I have been searching for a Scirocco winter car for some time now and 
have came up pretty much empty.  Every Scirocco I find is sold by the 
time I call or to damn expensive.  Anyway, back to my question.  I was 
flipping through a car trader magazine and came across an ad for a 1985 
Scirocco Wolfsburg GTI.  The ad said it has a 1.8l engine, air 
conditioning, electric windows, and power door locks.  The ad said that 
this is a car for Connaiseurs (sp?).  I live in Montreal and have never 
heard of a Scirocco GTI.  Is this car for real or is the used car dealer 
looking for someone to take for a ride.  There was no price mentioned but 
from the ad, I know it has new tires and brakes, 122 000 Km, and 5-speed 
transmission.  From the picture, I can see the Wolfsburg badges pretty 
clearly.  I'll call the dealer just as soon as I get a chance too.  In 
the meantime, I would appreciate if you experts could comment on this car.
On a side note, I also found a 1985 Scirocco for 600$ CAN but it has a 
shot transmission.  How much would it cost for me to repair the 
transmission.  Is it worth it for me to buy the car and fix the 
transmission, or should I just hold out and wait for a better, drivable car.
