Headers flex with the engine rocking to and fro every time the clutch is
engaged and disengaged. Instead of having a solid block of metal to help
stop flex before it damages the exhaust. With headers, all you have is
metal tubing to mount to the block. Does this sound tough? No, not tough
enough. Headers do have slightly better flow characteristics because of,
again, using metal tubing. But they are inherently weaker.
