Well chris, if you think about it, most people weigh 160 lbs or so. when you
get in to drive, you add the weight to the left side of the car. (except for
you island drivers who drive on the wrong side ect...) This weight is enough
to change your chamber settings by a full degree +/- each wheel. If you want
the best possible allignment, be in the car while your having it set. its
the closest to actual driving conditions you will ever get. 
Like Tim said, the mechanic was suprised by the amount it changes when he
got out.
