1.6 , 1.8 help

Ok, my '80 scirocco currently has a 1.6 8 v in it. In the near future 
I plan on outting a 1.8 in the car.   What I would like 
to know is the extent of parts I could carry over from the 1.6 to the 
1.8.  For example, is the head exactly the same as far as cam goes, 
could I carry over the valve cover.  And exaust system?
