I have a urethane tranny (rear motor) mount, and it does make the interior
*slightly* more noisy, since the rubber isn't there to absorb, but I like it
anyway.  I noticed that I was getting more power to the ground (less engine
flex) when I did this.  My friend did this to his 8v and saw the same
result.  We then both got Heavy duty (a notch under polyurethane) front
motor mounts (came w/ our tt exhaust) and noticed the same a little more.
If you drive hard, you flex your engine hard.  You might want to consider at
least doing the front and rear mounts.  HD in the front, Poly rear, as I
did.  It's not half bad.
