Power Mirrors

Hey all:

        My '81 doesn't have a passenger side mirror and instead of
installling the stock manual mirror, I was thinking about upgrading to the
power mirrors on the Mk 2 cars.  I haven't actually seen the Scirocco 2
mirrors so can someone tell me if it will fit, where the remote controls
could go, and if it is doable?  Also, are the mirrors on the Mk 2 cars
convex instead of the flat glass of the earlier cars?  And will the power
mirrors from the Jetta, Golf, Corrado, Passat etc. all work?  Anyone done
this upgrade?  I just find a power mirror really practical for the
passenger side, especially since passengers invariably play with the stubby
manual adjuster *grrr*.  Also a convex surface would be nice.  Thanks for

p.s.  Belated thanks for all the suggestions for the rear hatch leak and
electrical problems, I really appreciate it.  It's been raining
continuously for several days now so I'll check some of this stuff out when
it dries up.  I did find that the wiring to both the defroster and rear
wiper were broken at the hinge.  I just reconnected them with butt
connectors (not the name of a porno movie) but with that hinge gnashing
every time the hatch is opened, I don't know how long they'll survive.  The
wiper is working now but the defrost is still on the blink so I'll have to
check the other wiring once the rains stop.   Again, thanks all.
