Re: AC & York compressor followup



I took the car to Import Automotive on the near North side.
I forget about these guys, too.  I first went to them in 1985.
Alan let me roll it in and he checked the pressure.  Guess
what - the compressor is ok.  There were major leaks at the
fittings, but he was able to seal them with a couple of plastic
caps to replace the stock metal.  There is still a minor leak in
the evaporator - we'll see how long it holds.  Total cost was
about $90.  He estimated about $600 to replace the leaky
evaporator.  Considering the labor involved, this sounds
reasonable.  I will probably replace it when it dies/when I
replace the dash, and then take it back to him.
