        For all you out there who don't want to spend money on a short shift
kit, but want to shorten the fore-aft throw of your shifter, all you need is
a welder and some scrap metal.  I used a Mig welder and a piece from a Chevy
clutch pedal (American cars are good for something).  All you have to do is
extend the length of the shift arm that has the vertical axis and horizontal
throw.  I extended mine about an inch, you can vary yours according to how
much change you want.  This will not affect the side to side distance, but I
think they are close enough as it is.
