TechNote: Innovate LM-1 WideBand

Yeah, so last night was yet another tech procedure on my LM-1. Previously
the signal had been getting flaky and upon opening it up, it was clear why.
The little female outlet on the board that gets the 12V cable plugged into
it sits on four little legs, and two of them had come loose. Since I put my
(still living at home) son through school for this avionics nonsense and it
was a tight spot to get at, I sent it off to work with him and all was well
for a few weeks. So last trip out, it was flaky city again, and the other
two legs had come off. So why is this connector so flaky? Well... there is
supposed to be a screw in the casing that was missing! So if you have one
of these, just peek in the hole to see if there's a screw head supporting
the sockets or not, there SHOULD be one for both the analog output socket
AND the power socket. Mine was missing the one, and that's why the socket
got strained and broke free. Now the wire's direct soldered into the board,
with a strain relief loop, a cable tie and a nice rubber grommet (which if
a brake bleeding screw cover with a hole punched in it, it fit perfectly in
the Innovate case.)It ain't goin' nowhere fast!

Anyway, I know that not everyone has a WB, but if you do, it'd be worth
checking before yours fails as well. The sensor supposedly dies quickly if
starved for power.

There you go..
