2L 16v engine work ok with (base) CIS?

I don't have an Earl... well, unless you count a bare TDI engine and 02J.  :P  I have a handful of CIS stuff but that's not worth anything.  I need a bigger Earl.  :(

relationship with Earl. Hmm, wonder what I should name my pile of

sure is handy. My alternator bracket setup has TD AND TDI parts in it,
