Electrical problem

What Julie said, w/ my $0.02 added for emphasis:

- The light NEVER comes on? to say you are not getting
the Alt to charging mode? I suspect the light and/or
the wire(s) running to it. Failure of the dashboard
Alt warning light can lead to pesky 'it fails to
charge' type problems.

- Check that you have a good motor block to
chassis/battery negative grounding cable connection.
Often there is a smallish ground strap from the back
of the motor to the firewall, etc that helps make the
final 'mile' for various electrical signals/controls.

- A follow up to #2 above is that the head came off
during repairs. The ground strap mentioned is often
attached to the head via the valve cover bolts.
