Mid Grade gas vs High Octane gas - better performance??

I have always run premium. I switched multiple times from Citgo and Shell
in Fort Atkinson (just north of Janesville here in Wisconsin for those out
of Staters) to test the difference in perfomance and mileage. I noticed a
significant differnce in both with shell gas over the citgo. Shell was much
better. I haved talked to many people about the same experience with
citgo. Overall I like Shell the best of all.

Ben put the Mid grade gas in from Kwik Trip which I have had good results
from as well. Sometimes it seemed even better than Shell.

Back to my son's problem. He said that the car was idling high today which
leads me to belive that the idle valve was leaking a bit. We had to buy a
O-ring from the hardware that wasn't the exact size and I suspect that may
not be sealing properly otherwise there may be a leak somewhere else.
Tonight when we went to look at it again it idled fine. I used a simple
static timing light to check the timing and it seemed a bit advanced at idle
and at about 1500 to 2000 RPM. I will have to have him check the timing at
work with a adjustable timing light at work.
