ETKA v7

Allyn,

Not that I really care here, but mathematically speaking; 12 Hrs for a 1.2GB
file is not 40Kb/s as you state.

PS: when I get the DVD from Brian I will put it on my server, and whom wants
to grab it can...

Nope Its not on my 3MB link, but on a commercial box, as I said home
computers/connections make poor server because the upload ration to download
is always lower than download (for example: 3MB link = 2800 Down 200 up).

PSS: Allyn, you should not get so defensive about technology when someone
mentions their unhappiness about how slow something it, I wasn't blaming you
for the seeding, you are doing your best, for the people that care to "wait"
myself; I rather not :)

Cheers

Patrick

If you read the other posts you'll find there a much more heavily seeded
post out there. It took only 12 hours on my own 3MB/s
connection. You mgiht also try properly configuring your firewall for
forwarding connections on the incoming port your client is
using, and you will get much greater speed. Dan Bubb got it figured out,
perhaps he can lend a hand.

No, it isnt, but 32 of them sure is getting there (that's how many seeds
there currently are on the torrent). My own home server
does quite well within my own home (2400GB in hardware RADI-5 over gigabit),
but as far as the net goes, I'm just as limited as you
are. Even so, I still do what I can for the list with what little upstream
I have at my disposal (scirocco.dhs.org). That has been
serving the list for the past several years, and I havent heard any
complaints on speed thus far. Sure it's not lightning fast, but
that's what I have malventano.com for.

How fast can your server provide 1.6GB to the 35 current peers on that
torrent? I'd bet the 32 seeds, while not on the quickest
connections out there, just might give any single server a run for its
money. Actually, I just checked the swarm, ~40k/sec average
to 35 simultaneous (properly configured) clients. The speed everyone is
getting is fast enough that I opted to not host the file
from my own rack space (I forget the speed, but it's multiple OC3 links).
I'd rather enjoy the community sharing effort, as a
continuous seed, combining forces with the many other listers out there.

That said - if you can host a direct http download, I'm sure plenty of
listers would benefit, especially those having trouble
getting their own torrent clients configured corectly. Just make sure the
ETKA people don't track you down. I'd recommend sending
the link to individuals off-list.
