Sloppy Shifter question

Oh no..... No blame to be placed anywhere. I think that with time and enough pressure, Say from an eager reverse action, that c-clip could come out of the groove on the gear shifter. Thus it would realease the tention that it is supposed to create.

Again, I will know for sure if that did the trick. My guess is yes! Unless there are other confounding factors, but it is a scirocco.

That shifter spring is held by a C-clip that provides pressure to the gear shifter and aids in the push down mechanism for reverse. When I looked this morning the C-clip had worked its way up the gear shifter allowing the spring below all sorts of slack and concequently sloppy play. I will however still chnage all bushing and grommets associated with the linkage this weekend.
