Jetta GLX stuffs

I'm looking for a new(er) DD.  After some thought, I've decided to 
concentrate my looking at Jetta GLXs (currently on the radar is a nice 
'97 for sale locally).  Anyone with positives/negatives?  Things to look 
for?  BTDTs?
I know the VR6 can be temperamental with timing chains, coil packs, etc, 
but any info is more than welcome.
