La Deprecion de Neptuno

Cincy 2007:

Where to start? Well I guess to understand my 2007 experience I have to go back a bit. This year had been quite a lonely one here in Michigan in regards to working in VW?s. No Maryland crew to keep me busy or to help out when I needed an extra hand with actual work on the car. The car got hit shortly after moving to Ann Arbor. Who could I call to help with the body work? Where was I going to get the parts? Does anyone have a buffalo?

Well the winter passed and surprise to me it was not too bad, although working on the car was reserved for times with extreme sun and no wind. It was a slow process and many things still did not get done for the trip. At least the car was mostly complete and ran strong regardless of its awful 23-26 MPG.

I could not wait for Friday to get here so I could get myself on the road and onto Mecca. It took all of 3 hours and 20 minutes to get to Daun?s and I was happy to pull up on THAT yard! But I did pull up alone. If I have it my way next year will be a different story!

Familiar faces starting appearing and I felt at home again! As always it happened so fast I did not know who I said hi to first. People kept rolling in
. Then the call from Mike Smith
about Chucks car. Off to find Daun and rescue ?Rose?.

Meet new people, Brian from CT thanks for transporting my fender; Mr. & Mrs. Lee and that kid A3 something or the other, who turned out to be a good chap after all. Randall from Florida; BigTavo and family (the Taylor?s). Oh and Lord Berminan I want that 3A!

I awaited for my old gang and boy it was nice to see them pull up. Those guys helped me so much. I cannot ever thank them enough. Colin, Greg, Roger, Nate, they even had new additions with Chris. Oh and lets not forget Dan Bubb who had arrived earlier as well as Mike ?pass me a beer? Smith.

This year I worked hard on giving the car a new ?L##K? and many people complemented me on it. That was satisfaction enough. Saturday, I found myself a bit valiant and decided to tackle the fender with the help of Jim Beam. We took care of it in 1.5-2 hrs, but who was counting by then? People came out of the woodwork too help I had a floor jack and a whole slew of guardian angels as fast one can possible have them. A little blood from my thumb thanks to the fender installed. Lots of laughter from the onlookers and presto done.

Anyhow, I know I am rambling and that this is more stream of consciousness than anything else, but Thanks to Daun and Family for the yearly gtg, Chuck for the carnivore delight, Tonee, Ellen & Flaps for the eggs (a sure way to make Ann Jealous), Cathy for the awards (and spy coins), Julie for helping me with Rodolfo?s high idle. Mike and Rhett for camping (sorry for the dead beats Rhett) and thanks to everyone for the generous help, encouragement and your attendance. I should also mention something else I liked about this year: Lots of significant and the additions of the new generations.

Thank you again and again, it just reminds me that I am not crazy and for one weekend a year I am among the normal people.

  El T & Rodolfo

Ps I know I would feel bad if I did not say thnx to Timbo, Jim and Mike B, and Carl
I?ll forget someone Oh Chris and Brett. Oh and Big mac for giving hell to whom ever
..
